Chauffeur de taxi-bus, "roi de l'asphalte", Sayed est un séducteur-né. Il vit avec sa famille, mais utilise également une garçonnière pour ses nombreuses conquêtes. Sayed a une aventure avec sa voisine, Batta, la femme du barbier. Pour ne pas éveiller les soupçons du mari trompé, il paye son meilleur ami Ringo, lui aussi chauffeur de taxi, qui va, dès lors, toujours se faire couper la barbe au moment de ses rendez-vous galants. Insherah, la soeur de Sayed, aimerait bien épouser Ringo, mais Sayed s'y oppose car il est aussi peu sérieux que lui ! Au fil de l'histoire, la pratique de l'adultère paraît se généraliser : alors qu'il tente d'intercéder en faveur de sa fille Insherah, le père de Sayed, Abdallah, essaye de séduire Zahia, la mère de Ringo. Quant à Tafida, la mère de Sayed, elle apprécie un peu trop les talents de conteur de Mohamed, le barbier.
Sayed is a taxi-driver, a "king of the asphalt", and a born womanizer. He lives with his family but he uses another house as his bachelor flat. Sayed is having an affair with his neighbour, Batta, the barber's wife. So as not to awaken the suspicions of the deceived husband, Sayed pays his best friend, Ringo, another cabbie, to go have his beard trimmed just when he and Batta are having their lovers' tryst. Insherah, Sayed's sister, would like to marry Ringo but Sayed won't hear of it. He says that Ringo, like himself, is not responsible enough !
As the story unfolds, the acts of adultery become more widespread : while trying to intercede on behalf of his daughter Insherah, Sayed's father, Abdallah, tries to seduce Ringo's mother, Zahia. And Sayed's mother, Tafida, seems too keen on the storytelling talents of the barber, Mohamed.
